At The Vet Lounge Currumbin, we use state-of-the-art digital radiography (X-ray) and ultrasound technology, allowing us to identify problems with bones, organs and soft tissues rapidly and with precision.

Digital X-Rays (Radiography)
Our digital X-ray system produces high-resolution images instantly, with significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays. We use radiography to assess:
- Fractures and bone abnormalities
- Joint disease and arthritis
- Chest conditions (heart, lungs)
- Foreign body ingestion
- Dental root and jaw health
- Abdominal organ size and shape
- Urinary tract stones
Diagnostic Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs and soft tissue structures. It is completely safe, non-invasive and painless. We use ultrasound to evaluate:
- Abdominal organs (liver, kidneys, spleen, bladder)
- Pregnancy confirmation and foetal monitoring
- Heart structure and function (echocardiography)
- Masses and tumours
- Fluid accumulation
- Guided biopsy or fine needle aspiration
What to Expect During Imaging
Most imaging procedures are quick and well-tolerated by pets. X-rays typically take only a few minutes. For ultrasound, the fur over the area being examined may be lightly clipped and a small amount of gel applied — this is completely harmless and helps transmit the sound waves clearly.
In some cases, mild sedation may be recommended to keep your pet still and comfortable, particularly for X-rays that require precise positioning. Our team will discuss this with you before any procedure.
